Welcome To Zimbabwe

After 2.5 hours at the hectic Beitbridge border post, I made it to Zimbabwe!

I was sad to leave South Africa and that’s the reason why I crossed the border on the last day of my visa.

Zimbabwe is going to be challenging for 3 reasons:

- there is no local currency (the USD is the national currency at the moment);

- payment with credit/debit cards are mostly not accepted;

- hyperinflation.

I was lucky enough to be able to find South African people to exchange some Rands (South Africa’s currency) with USD but clearly not enough for more than 2 weeks.

So I decided to fill up my 2 jerry cans with fuel just before crossing the border, so I can save money on fuel a bit -however one of them opened when I was in Zimbabwe (I didn’t position the spout vertically and the vibrations opened it).

But. I love Zimbabwe already. And especially its people. Very very much. I had this exact same crush with Zambia, Uganda, and Lesotho. So I’m so impatient even if it clearly won’t be a long stay…
