Welcome To The Sultanate Of Oman

It’s official: I made it to Oman and I’m very excited to explore the country.

I was so stressed before crossing the border to be honest. Border crossings in Africa are not easy and I’m very used to battle every time.

I’m already ready to argue, negotiate, and struggle for any reason. So, my mind was obviously ready when I left the UAE.

But I was shocked, in a very good way. Everybody came to me to genuinely offer some help, to orientate me, and to guide me smoothly through the border.

Some even offered me cool drinks and dates! And nobody asked for money or whatsoever. They didn’t even ask for the CPD (Carnet de Passage en Douanes = Rafiki’s passport).

They looked so happy to see me, proud to welcome me to their country, and the Emirati officers sad to see me leaving.

It’s a giant culture shock when coming from almost 2 years in Africa where corruption is sadly a common thing.

I felt so relaxed and relieved, and Rafiki is so impatient to hit some crazy roads!

But the question is: are you ready to tag along?

Ps: yes this is my boyfriend on photo 2 but I don’t want to talk about it.
