In April 2020 I had to isolate in Gaborone because of you know what. I decided to rent a AirBnb somewhere in the capital.
I refused to be repatriated many times and thus stayed a total of 2.5 months here in Botswana.
They quickly accepted me as part of their family and they became my ‘African’ family, forever.
Tonight, I’m about to see them again: the kids, the grandma, the parents, and all the cousins.
I’m already feeling emotional. Gaborone is the place where I realised the love and fascination I have for Africa. Gaborone is where I started to put seeds for my dream to grow. Gaborone is the city I call ‘home’ now and, again, forever.
It’s good to be back. It’s so good to be back home.
I’m going to stay with them for a week I think. A good opportunity for me to relax, to enjoy, to be surrounded with family and to keep realising my dream through Africa.
