This beautiful smile belongs to Kabo, one of the people working at the Ecotourism camel park in Tsabong, Botswana.
On the following morning of our arrival, Kabo came to visit us. Since then, I spent hours talking to him. Kabo is now divorced, his ex wife left him for someone else a couple of years ago. He’s raising their daughter of 4 and he’s proud of that. He walks 1.5h to get to work every morning and every evening on his way home. Kabo is shy but he seemed to enjoy our conversations. We talked about love, Botswana, cultures, and love again.
His broken heart touched me, so much. I could relate to his story, and I could feel his deep sadness. The eyes never lie.
I’m fascinated by the kindness of the people from this country. They are unique. I’ve been missing them so much. I wouldn’t be surprise if the word ‘peace’ would have been invented in Botswana.
Kabo is from the Tswana ethnicity; the biggest ethnic group here in Botswana (around 80% of the population). The Tswana are a Bantu-speaking ethnic group who are native to Southern Africa.
