Many new humans in here.
I’m Charline and this is -half of- Rafiki, my Toyota Hilux. I left France in January 2022 and I started to drive back to Africa. Once in Eastern Turkey, at the border with Iran, I couldn’t cross the border for many reasons. Thanks to a friend of friend of friend, I had the opportunity to ship my car from Germany to South Africa. I thus drove to Hamburg: 5,000km in 4 days. Rafiki was finally off to Africa and so did I.
We got reunited in Cape Town in May 2022. Since then, I drove through a few countries up to Eastern Africa. Sadly, Ethiopia closed its borders when I was in Kenya so I had to make a decision: let’s drive back to South Africa through a slightly different route. I did.
Today, I’m busy sharing about my time in Zimbabwe. Please keep in mind that I post with a few weeks of delay for safety reasons, and especially since I had 3 bad incidents when I was in Namibia.
21 months later, the solo expedition in Africa is not over yet. And, soon, it will be continuing on a different continent…
Because in real time, Rafiki and I just left Africa.
Welcome to the solo expedition. It’s a journey of a lifetime.
