The Crossing, Part II - Fairy Tales Are So Boring

Updated: Aug 10, 2023

…which is very ironic since I’m sharing this thought on THE social media of aesthetic and perfection.

I often think about what I’m going to share with you. The gold rule: to resume my day the best way and to stay authentic as much as possible. Days are busy, many things happen, and it’s not that easy to resume it all in 3 minutes only.

Anyway, I’m not the one who’s going to tell you fairy tales, I ‘simply’ share what my windscreen shows me, what my eyes want to capture, and what my heart wants to remember. That’s it.

Why? Because beautiful contents are very nice for the eyes and pleasant to watch, yes. But! raw reality is what we live and this is priceless. Even if our* reality can be ugly, disgusting, unfair, sad, shocking, traumatic, violent, scary, etc.

(Our) Reality is what we experience in the present. Sharing our reality is important. Our reality is our own truth. And truth is what we tend to loose, truth is what we can be ashamed of, truth is what we try to get rid of more and more. And we shouldn’t. We need our realities to be shared and our truths to be listened.

*I say ‘our’ because I think we all have our reality, our truth, based on our own experiences, past, temper, education, culture, fears, desires, etc.

I thus try my best to share my reality of Africa with you. I write my emotions in the posts and express my sense of humour in the stories. This page is my travel diary and all my emotions are shared: no shame. It’s an evolution from different experiences.

Because our reality is…real.

Ps: a very special thanks to my cops, my friend, ma Fanny, my guardian angel. Thank you for being here, for your support, for taking care of me, every single day since I left my family. You are my everything. Love you @fachardvenault
