I’m finalizing the build of Rafiki at the end of this week; I’m currently making a proper bed storage system. The whole preparation for this expedition comes to an end very soon -which is very exciting!
Exciting and frustrating since this new variant situation is literally ruining everything -borders around the world are closing down, again…and the ones to access Africa are impossible (or extremely difficult) to enter.
I wanted to start traveling at the end of December / early January.
My plan A was to drive straight from France to Morocco and then heading to South Africa. While my plan B was to ship Rafiki to Southern Africa (I was especially thinking of South Africa where I’ve got friends) and then to drive North to Egypt.
Today, I need to be realistic: neither of these 2 plans will work in January.
But today, I deeply need to go exploring and living in my truck. No matter what. It’s been a few months since I'm constantly postponing my travel which is psychologically intense. I feel I cannot be flexible anymore.
So, all that to say that it might not be Africa yet. I need to do a LOT of thinking again. But I’ll find a solution for January (end of January maximum). And I’ll go, somewhere, but I’ll go.
I want to end this post with a quote that resonates in me so much these days: ‘If you want something you never had, you have to do something you’ve never done’.
What do you think? How do you guys cope with the situation?
