Rafiki's Not My Car, It's My Home!

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

…and so much more! We’ve been traveling together for 14 months now. It’s definitely the best travel partner I could ask for, but also a home (my Home!), a reliable 4x4, a protector, a mobile shelter, a silent listener, a terrific umbrella, a dream bubble, a box for imagination, a tireless machine, a strong heart, a hyperactive soul, a guardian angel, a loyal friend, a RAFIKI. My Rafiki.

I do not want anything to happen to my Hilux. And a few days ago, in real time, when I had to bring it to a garage for a simple wheel alignment and balancing, I ask the mechanic to come with. He told me that clients stay outside but he understood my point: Rafiki’s not a car to me, it’s my home, my whole life and everything I own is Rafiki and in Rafiki. And with what happened to me in Namibia, I’m even more suspicious and careful…

‘Sir, I’m not bringing you a car but a Home with all my personal effects and much more’.

‘I get you, come along’.
