Only The Present Moment Is What Truly Matters To Me From Now On

Updated: Aug 2, 2023

‘Some people have the watches while some others have the time’. And I think this statement is so true and perfectly describes our main differences between Westerners and Africans; and from what I’ve seen and experienced so far.

It’s a very personal point of view but I want to share it with you today. Western societies can be extremely stressful and this stress can ruin the person we truly are. I feel like we -Westerners- run after many illusions to nurture our ego. Most of us run after money, love, fame, gratitude, consumption, investment, health…etc. For what?

We even tend to live longer now…but again: for what?

We tend to consume, always, to compare, to hardly be satisfied…why?

All that generate so much anxiety for the future (starting at school with our modern educations) and so much regrets when thinking about the past…

For what?

We -Westerners- think we have the ‘manual’ to live properly and that the rest of the world should follow. Do you know what? This is absolute bullshit.

I think we -Westerners- are lost. I feel sad and sorry to say that, you know. But I’m sure that we are completely lost and way too pretentious. We are losing our values and what should really nurture us and save us: love, respect, childhood dreams, time, time and time.

Again, it’s a very personal opinion I needed to express with you.

I’d love to know what are your thoughts on that matter…
