Tomorrow is going to be my last day here in Rwanda. I’m leaving this beautiful country with frustration and a pinch in the heart.
I feel frustrated since I entered the country: almost no camping spots (and many are closed now). Everything is very expensive: parks, lodges, activities (like gorilla trekking), food. And when you overland solo, you can’t afford lodges after lodges -or you’ll have to amend the length of the expedition.
Rwanda has got so much to explore, to understand, to live. I’ll be back, I feel it. But not during the current solo expe.
A pinch in the heart because I got to step where extraordinary Dian Fossey used to live and to dedicate her life: somewhere in the Volcanoes National Park.
Today, it’s the very first time I spend more than 20 min in a gallery/museum. I normally don’t like that; I find it boring.
I spent 2 hours -and then they were closing- and I’ll be back tomorrow. I felt emotional getting to know Dian much better. She’s a hero.
Thank you for creating such a beautiful campus @theellenshow and @portiaderossi
