It’s official, I’m not a solo overlander anymore! On the 26th of August, I welcomed a gorgeous and cheeky Rottie into my life: Kena.
I decided to get a dog for many reasons, and one in particular urged the process. However, I will keep this reason for myself.
I’ve always found Rottweilers fascinating although I will never understand and accept their bad reputation.
Just because some humans use them for bad purposes and damage them, we shouldn’t blame nor punish a whole breed. Each dog is the result of treatments and education. There are no dangerous dogs, but dangerous owners.
Rottweilers are strong and muscular dogs, which can cause severe physical harm. Also, they are very good learners (old working dog of Germany), so if you train them with bad discipline and intentions, yeah, they will surely become dreadful.
Animals are the reflection of the human(s) around and random bad incidents. We shouldn’t put certain dogs into some categories nor ban them from entering a country. It’s discriminatory. However, we should do so with their owners.
Sorry for being straightforward and probably a bit cruel, but this is what I think.
As mentioned earlier in my stories, I’m aware of the tones of challenges I will face with Kena on the road. So many countries ban her breed.
But I hate easy things. It doesn’t stimulate me. I hate unfairness more; but it motivates me to restore truth.
That’s what I tried to do while traveling Africa and the Middle East: to show my truth, at least. So I promise you something: let’s show the truth about Rottweilers, and if you don’t know the breed, you will LOVE it!
Thank you for your beautiful messages about Rottweilers! I had no idea they could be so much loved and admired! You gave me goosebumps. I’m so blessed to be supported by hearted people like you.
Let’s make overlanding possible and exciting with a Rottweiler! I love her so much already.
Oh! And let’s find a way to modify Rafiki’s setup…because Kena won’t stay tiny for sure!
ARE YOU READY??
