Iraq And Then, What's Next?

Writer's picture: Charline RibottaCharline Ribotta

Iraq is actually the last ‘exciting’ country of my solo expedition across Africa and the Middle East. Please, don’t take it wrong when I say ‘exciting’.

To be honest with you, what’s next does not excite me much because I have already been to the countries I’m going to cross in the next days. Indeed, I will re-enter Türkiye and then, Europe. If you follow the biggest adventure of my life since the very beginning you probably remember the first part: when I left France and started to drive across Europe and Türkiye to reach Africa.

I’m also super happy to drive through Türkiye again, but you know, after Africa and the Middle East…it’s very different.

Anyway. I try to enjoy the last days in Iraq although I’m extremely tired from so many things: I’m mentally exhausted after 2.5 years living alone in a 4x4, being my only bodyguard, navigator, driver, cook, mechanic, ‘reporter’ (you know what I mean)…and I’m also physically destroyed (sleeping on a tent mattress, on a passenger seat, driving almost constantly, off-road with vibrations, no deep sleeps, etc).

I know I’m just an entertainment for you and I’m happy to share my travel, but you know, behind the camera there is an accumulation of tiredness that I need to solve. And, especially, it’s time for me to earn money again.

4 things for sure: 1/ I refuse to live under a roof for the next years to come, 2/ I want to stay with my Rafiki, 3/ I do not want to stay in Europe, and 4/ I have so many ideas I will share with you soon.
