First, I have great news for Rafiki (and me): the Carnet de Passage (CPD) has already arrived in Cape Town! And I've been roaming the Western Cape region for a few days, playing hide-and-seek with the rain and cold.
The plan is to enjoy a little bit of desert, of the winelands and the mountains, to finally pass by Cape Town to send the old CPD back to France and to get the new one stamped by the authorities.
Then, I want to keep overlanding in South Africa -for the second time. I crossed the whole country three years ago, starting with Johannesburg (when I rented a Hilux with Britz). I have good and intense memories, and I can’t wait to cross the country again, with Rafiki this time.
I won’t stay in Cape Town, I will proceed along the coast towards one of my favourite regions: the KwaZulu-Natal where I would like to drive the Sani Pass for the first time, straight to Lesotho.
Today, the idea is to stay 5 or 6 more months overlanding in Africa: the ideal would be to discover Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, to go back to Botswana, and then, let’s see what life will bring on the road again.
This is the plan today, more or less, but again, the real plan is NO plan. I tell you this today but I do not want to feel any pressure and to have the freedom to amend or to cancel at any time, with absolutely no regrets.
This is the beauty of this Solo Expedition Across Africa: F R E E D O M.
The freedom to change plans. The freedom to say no. The freedom to be different. The freedom to stop. The freedom to keep going. The freedom to live a nomadic life. The freedom to start over. The freedom to go anywhere. The freedom to go nowhere. The freedom to be wild. The freedom to be free. The freedom to be ME.
