When I decided to leave Africa, the idea was to drive back to Europe. Why? I need to earn money, to stop my Carnet de Passage subscription with the Club Automobile of France (way too expensive), and to work on new adventures. The plan is also to keep living in and with Rafiki, but I need to make some modifications first (when financially possible of course).
Anyway, the route I wanted to drive initially started from the UAE - OMAN - SAUDI ARABIA - JORDAN - IRAQ - TÜRKIYE - EUROPE.
Today, I need to change the route slightly: I won’t go to Jordan anymore, for a few reasons.
1/ I’ve already overlanded Jordan in 2018 and I just loved it;
2/ I don’t want to be escorted through Iraq and to bother the military just for me (indeed, you need a military escort when coming from Jordan to Iraq, but you’re not required to get one coming from Kuwait);
3/ don’t worry Jordanian friends, I’m planning to drive to Jordan again, later.
So, the new plan is to drive straight to Kuwait (which is a much smaller and transit country) when I’m finished with Saudi, soon.
I will have to be quick after Saudi, simply because I’ll be financially in the shit.
I can’t wait to share the last stretch of Saudi with you, because it was intense, magical, and probably my favourite part since the Middle East expedition!
