Do Not Go To Africa.

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

Strong title, a bit violent I reckon, but I really mean it.

Why am I saying this?

Let me explain. In December 2019, I was on my way to Ethiopia and I was excited about ideas and knowledge I could share with the people I was about to meet in Africa.

How pretentious and totally stupid I was. After one day only, I realised that I had absolutely nothing to ‘teach’ them BUT! they were actually teaching me so much already. The difference? They don’t even plan to teach you things and they’re genuinely happy to share anything.

They don’t fake it, they don’t pretend, they don’t run after time, because life is real here, you can’t cheat, you can’t play. Life is tough but life is real. REAL.

Africa is my favourite school, my favourite love story. Everything I see on the road is nurturing my eyes, my brain, and my heart.

Africa is all about passion, extreme, intensity; life. Real life.

So yes, I think it’s better not to go to Mama Africa if you want to teach her life or to ‘save’ Her. It’s my very personal opinion but: Africa can actually save the world, not the other way around…
