A Poem To The World.

Today it’s me against you, And you against me.

Today, I do not know how to listen to you, But I want you to listen to me.

Because today we hear, and we don’t (have time to) listen.

Today, we spread fear, Faster than ever.

Today, the less we know, The more we hate.

Today, we believe screens, And everything they say.

Today, we live disconnected, Although over-connected.

Today, we find time to build excuses, And way too scared to fight for a dream.

Today, we’re surrounded by GPS, But we can’t find our own path.

Today, we judge by the surface, Which leads to face gigantic aftermaths.

Today, we spend a life to seduce others, With no clue to satisfy our own desires.

Today, we’re never good enough anyway, Whereas we are perfect the way we are.

Today, we are too feminine, masculine, weak, macho, mercenary, black, religious, rich, ugly, white, gay, poor, tribal, talented, disabled, lonely, emotional, happy, courageous, weird, inspirational, protective, fearless, lazy, single, superficial, slow, fast, naive, violent, spiritual, dominant, depressed, ambitious, relaxed, different, angry, calm, sad, extreme, alive…

Today, we need to hide our roots, So we can look all the same.

Today, being different is a shame, Indeed, you can’t express yourself.

Today, we become what they want us to be, But today, we need to be who we are meant to be.

They make us blind, And they make us hate.

Today, we can be so powerful, If only they don’t treat us like fools.

Today, they use us to shape the world, But the world needs us to stand together.

Today, more than ever, our differences Is a massive weapon To kill all these fences They built around us.

Because only our unity Will reveal our humanity.

(I really needed to write these words tonight…)

Ps: welcome to Botswana!
