A Little Bit More Details About The Three Incidents In Namibia

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

I was and I’m still deeply touched by the unbelievable kindness and support I’ve received so far. I cannot get back to all of you yet, but you are bringing me so much strength. Thank you a thousand times.

So many of you want to know the exact locations where these three distinct bad experiences took place. I understand your concern, and that’s the reason why I’m going to give you some more details:

- The first one, -the physical assault by police- which happened on Sunday the 15th of January took place between Otavi and Otjiwarongo. The more I talk about this bad experience to locals, the more the intentions of the two policemen become clearer. My first reaction: I do not want another woman to experience this, at all.

- The second one -the robbery- took place at the Tiger Reef camping in Swakopmund (on 23/01/2023) where the owners were still pretending nothing like this ever happened. This is obviously not true when you read some comments on ioverlander and Trip Advisor. But why did we go there? Because there are ‘only’ two bad and old comments about it on ioverlander and that we never check Trip Advisor (‘we’ standing for my friends Matt and Lucy, the bikers from the UK, and me).

- The third one (on 24/01/2023) -the trap by a gang- took place in Walvis Bay, on a parking lot, and then at the police station of Walvis Bay, where the police asked me to pay the gang (£100 = USD122).

Once I exit Namibia, I’ll give you even more elements (location, intentions, reputation -especially regarding Walvis Bay), but I cannot be more precise at the moment, for my own safety.

In the meantime, I’m still recovering and resting from the intense past month. And great news, I finally found a post-trauma therapist here in Namibia and the two first sessions have been mind blowing. I’ll tell you more of this in a few days.
