2nd Service Check: 12,000 Km Since Cape Town

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

Last time I brought Rafiki for a service check was in May. My bakkie just arrived in Cape Town and I thought it would have been a good idea to double check its health.

@elmotorworkshop took care of Rafiki for a total of 72 hours, and the owner, Renier, enjoyed this time to train me as much as possible. I was very lucky and Rafiki -along with its brand new brakes- was ready to hit the road again.

12,000 km later, while in Nairobi (Kenya), I decided to give Rafiki to Chris -the owner of the Jungle Jonction campsite- and a very passionate mechanic.

Rafiki is in very good healthy conditions: zero mechanical issue after 22,000 km of constant crazy adventures since January. A few oil changes later, my travel partner was already impatient to rock the test drive.

Please note that 2 days later, and while roaming around the Mara, the battery was down. Pierre had to tow me several times and in epic situations we will always remember. Back at JJ’s, Chris could eventually change the battery in less than 24 hours.

Yep, I was well surrounded, luckily!
