20,000 km / How Many Problems With Rafiki?

Updated: Aug 1, 2023

…ZERO!

Well, I do not want this post to bring me bad luck but this is the reality of the solo expedition so far.

I’ve been driving 20,000 km since January, through icy Europe, epic Turkey and now unique Africa.

For those who’ve been following me since the very beginning of this adventure, you (maybe) remember the icy roads and snowstorms of Eastern Europe, snowy Cappadocia, and the challenging (and so not boring!) roads of Southern Africa.

To sum up, Rafiki never disappointed me! Not even one small issue or one weird noise! (I do not count the load bed problem -which is not a problem actually-, I’m talking about mechanical issues). Rafiki brought me anywhere, and I can tell you that I’m very demanding and…crazy!

Of course, anything can happen, but so far so good! I’m very proud of the Hilux and absolutely do NOT regret this choice! It’s one of the leader car models in Africa for a reason!

I’ve been dreaming about this pick-up truck so much, I’ve been drawing it a thousand times, and now I can’t believe all the tracks we take, all the insane memories we are creating.

My Rafiki, we are a team, I’m so attached to you, you are the essential tool of this dream coming true, the symbol of Africa! You can’t believe how happy, protected and comfy I feel behind your wheel!

Thank you for making me feel free my Rafiki (=friend). I’m not a materialistic person normally, but wow, I think I am with you. You are the best 4x4 I could ask for for this solo expedition across Africa.
